The Top 3 Muscle Building Exercises To Do

January 27th, 2010

We all like to have a nice body whether your a male or female. To do this we have to learn how to burn fat and build muscle. There is a select few of us who want to take it to the next level and simply get jacked. For those who strive for this route, there are three movements you should know. In the following article you’ll discover just what they are.

Before I get into the three exercises let me stipulate a little known philosophy about get big quickly. If you really want to pack on mass you have to utilize compound exercises. Compound movements utilize the most muscle fibers leading to more muscle gain. An example of this type of routine would be the bench press followed by the dumbbell row. The gist of it is to use two exercises, one a push and one a pull with a brief period of rest in between. With that out of the way, let’s go over the 3 best exercises for mass building.

Exercise 1. The Squat - When we think of building mass, the lower body is not exactly what we have in mind. This is unfortunate because many people look just plain silly with a big upper body and a small lower body. The squat is a great overall mass builder for the legs. Squats work the quads, hamstrings, glutes and calves all at the same time. This should be a cornerstone of any leg routine.

Exercise 2. The Bench Press - The bench press on the other hand is a favorite for those who want to pack on some serious mass. Let’s face it, every guy wants a big barrel chest to not only impress the opposite sex but his buddies in the gym. Even though the bench press is a chest exercise, other muscles get benefits like the triceps, shoulders and a little bit of the biceps.

Exercise 3. The Dumbbell Row - The last mass building exercise is focused on the back. The dumbbell row will give you the broad look that many people are looking for. Even though this is mainly a back exercise, other muscle like the rear shoulders, biceps and traps get some benefit. This exercise goes very well with the bench press.

So there you have it, three of the best muscle building exercises that are a must in any mass builders routine. These exercises have been around for decades for one simple reason, they continue to get results. Even if you want to simply build muscle and burn fat these exercises will work great. If by chance that is your focus, all you have to do is use less weight when doing these movements. Just make sure they are part of your routine.
